Methodology

Every rule behind the numbers on this site.

Protein Cost

Protein Cost is what 100g of protein costs you: price ÷ (protein per serving × servings) × 100. Protein per serving and servings come from the label. A ₹2,000 tub with 30 servings of 24g protein holds 720g of protein, so its Protein Cost is ₹278.

Sellers and refresh times

We read prices straight from these Sellers' public product listings, about one request a second per Seller:

Prices are checked twice a day, starting at 6:00 and 18:00 IST. The site rebuilds about an hour after each check. Every page shows the time its prices were read.

Ranking and sorts

  • Boards rank Product Lines by the Protein Cost of their best valid Offer, at their best size. Ties go to the lower pack price. A Product Line with no valid Offer leaves the board.
  • Budget boards (under ₹2,000, under ₹3,000) filter on that best size's pack price.
  • A board is published, and indexed, only with 5 or more Products.
  • Avg Seller Rating sort: stars weighted by review count across Sellers. Product Lines with under 50 reviews go below the rated ones, in Protein Cost order.
  • Lab Test Lane sort: Pass, Mixed, Not tested, Fail, with Protein Cost order inside each Lane.
  • Lab Tests never move a row in the default sort. "Lab-tested only" hides untested rows and never reorders.
  • Brand and Seller pages are indexed by search engines only from 2 Products.

Lab Test Lanes

A Lane is a Product Line's Lab Test standing, set from its non-stale Lab Tests. It is never a score.

  • Pass: every Lab Test passed.
  • Fail: the latest Lab Test failed.
  • Mixed: the Lab Tests disagree.
  • Not tested: no Lab Tests, or all of them stale.

Protein fails when the amount found is more than 10% below the label claim. The threshold is the same for every origin.

Per-origin notes

  • Trustified: the published Passed or Failed status is the verdict. Expired results count as stale. A retest becomes the latest test and the original is kept.
  • Unbox Health: fails on any failed aflatoxin or heavy-metal check, or a protein shortfall. The grade is shown but not used. Expired results count as stale.
  • Citizens Protein Project: we apply the same rule to the published raw values against FSSAI limits, and mark the verdict as derived by us.

Staleness

An Offer counts only when it is in stock and was read within the last 72 hours. Older prices stay on the Product page marked "Price not recently checked" and never count as the lowest. A Lab Test older than 18 months, or marked expired by its origin, is stale and does not set a Lane.

Disclosure

Ranks come only from the rules on this page. No brand or Seller pays for placement. If we ever add an affiliate tag to a Seller's links, theAbout page will say so.
